Our motto — "Like a tree, knowledge grows" — captures how we see education here: rooted in discipline and values, branching into diverse fields, and bearing fruits of wisdom, service, and leadership. Academics sit at the centre of that vision, and our teachers continue to push our boys to think critically, stay curious, and build the resilience that lasts well beyond the classroom.

Discipline is the trunk that holds it all together. We hold a high bar on respect, integrity, and responsibility, because character is what carries a learner into the world. Alongside that, student welfare is the soil — a safe, inclusive environment backed by mentorship, counselling, and a full slate of co-curricular opportunities so every boy can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

None of this works without the support of parents, alumni, and the wider community. Education is a shared responsibility, and the partnership we have with families strengthens everything we do. Guided by our motto, we remain focused on shaping future leaders whose knowledge, discipline, and compassion will leave the world better than they found it.

Deputy Principal (Academics)

True academics ignite curiosity — not just chase marks. They form the foundation of personal growth, career opportunity, and the lifelong habit of learning, and they remain the heartbeat of any school that intends to excel. At Makueni Boys we strike a deliberate balance between academic rigour and a full co-curricular life, because every learner brings unique talents we want to surface. That approach shows in our results: in the 2025 KCSE, 95% of our candidates scored C+ and above, and we are working toward 100% university transition this year.

Success at this level still comes down to the basics — discipline, dedication, and students taking real ownership of their learning. Our teachers carry that weight day to day: mentoring, inspiring, and shaping both knowledge and character. We back them with technology, digital devices, and collaborative, creative methods that keep learners engaged and ready for today's world, and we make a point of celebrating academic wins so a culture of excellence becomes the norm.

None of this would hold without the Board of Management's governance, the Parents' Association's steady partnership, and the Chief Principal's leadership in setting the vision and motivating the team. Together they ensure standards, resources, and support are all pulling in the same direction. To our students, teachers, parents, and partners — thank you. Let us stay committed to innovation, discipline, and teamwork as we shape a brighter academic future for every learner who passes through this school.

Dean of Studies
Dean of Studies

Our focus at the Dean of Studies office is straightforward: build a rigorous academic environment that pushes our young gentlemen toward global competitiveness. We track student performance closely and treat exam results as diagnostic tools — every term ends with a fresh look at where each learner stands and what targeted remediation they need.

The day-to-day machinery — master timetable, class allocations, continuous assessments, and end-of-term exams — runs cleanly across the school. That predictability is what builds the readiness and intellectual stamina our boys rely on when it matters most.

Looking ahead, our biggest priority is the pioneer Competency-Based Education (CBE) class of Grade 10. Policies are aligned, staff are trained, resource centres are equipped, and our grading approach now assesses both skills and knowledge. Makueni Boys is ready to walk this historic cohort into the next phase of their journey.

Quality Assurance Department
Quality Assurance Department

The Quality Assurance Department exists to keep standards high across academics, discipline, innovation, and co-curricular life. Much of our work happens behind the scenes — auditing how things are done, tightening processes where they slip, and making sure the systems that support learning actually deliver.

We encourage every learner to bring quality into everything they do: integrity, responsibility, and the discipline to keep improving. Success here is built on commitment, teamwork, and the willingness to do good work even when nobody is watching.

Ms. Victoria Boore
HOD Quality Assurance

Clubs & Societies

Makueni Boys High School, in pursuit of its mission to nurture holistic young men ready to serve humanity, recognizes that academic excellence alone is not enough. As such, clubs and societies play a vital role in student development. These platforms offer students opportunities to socialize, interact with teachers and guest mentors beyond the classroom, and grow personally and professionally. Notably, students in leadership roles gain valuable skills in human resource management. The school hosts a variety of clubs, each evaluated on a five-star scale based on their performance and impact.
